He points out that jurisprudence deals with a particular species of law e.g. civil law or law of the state. The civil law consists of rules applied by courts in the administration of justice. Kant treats ‘Jurisprudence’ as the science of right. Webbcomponents that the works presented under the label jurisprudence are very much a mixed bag. Apart from traditional studies on substantive legal issues – i.e. studies of legal dogmatics – there exist a large number of sub-domains. Noticeable is also that more or less established theoretical schools are producing results of many different kinds.
