WebWhile a psychology of old age depends upon a psychology of the life cycle, the latter has been slow to appear. A number of texts have been published in the past two decades in which the authors have attempted to bring together findings regarding childhood, adulthood, and old age, but these attempts have not been altogether successful. WebAge also brings understanding, patience, experience, and wisdom—qualities that improve life regardless of the physical changes that may occur. Aging in late adulthood profoundly affects appearance, sensation, and motor abilities. An older adult's appearance changes as wrinkles appear and the skin becomes less elastic and thin.
