Modding the scripts will be pretty easy, but adding new art will require some rethinking of the engine. Yea, if you add modding support replayability will go up massively. It is possible to beat the game without winning fights, but I haven't tested if the hard hat makes non-combat tests harder and XP/buffs are kind of tight to try and do it without sleeping.
